SECOND SEASON SUMMARY

Mark C continues to do a great job of getting Results posted on the website on what seems to be a weekly basis so if you want the latest picture log on as above. I’m pleasantly surprised to report that Team Croston (the place) have managed to hang on to the overall Championship leads (Senior and Junior) but we’re being chased hard and I for one feel nervous.

Championship Class Leaders as follows;

                                      1/32                             1/24

Prod             Saloon          Sports         Prod             Gp 12

Senior       Arthur       Arthur       Paul          Charlie       Arthur

Junior.            John         John         Mark K      Mark K      John

Latest Improvers Chart looks like this;

(Improvements in Personal Bests (Laps/min) for 1/32 Production, run by all and a good benchmark)

The figures in the % column represent the 2nd quarter 2003 Personal Bests compared to the 1st quarter  figures – 100% means no change since March, the bigger the number is above 100 the more you’ve improved. Black means no change or new entrant, Green means your improvement’s improving, Red means the opposite! Members whose names don’t appear this time will be included as soon as you’ve raced long enough for me to make the comparison!

So a big “Well Done” to Jasmin, Mike A and Wayne!

NEW MEMBER

A big welcome to our most recent recruit, Roger – he’s hardly started with us but is already worryingly fast and we think he may have done this before…………….

MEN IN WHITE

The last night’s racing of the 2nd season saw us visited by the Men in White, aka Jim’s Slot-Tech Racing Team who came along to do battle in “Scalextric”. The Clubs managed to avoid each other in the heats but once seeded into the Finals I think we had a Slot-Tech driver in just about each one and just a hint of inter-Club rivalry crept in! I barely managed to hold on to the lead in my “C” Final (familiarity with the track I think) but the “B” and “A” Finals went “all white” for Slot-Tech although loyalty to ARRA prompts me to mention that their cars were very well sorted………… quite legit as they race to more open rules than us for this type of car, but I think perhaps we might relax things a bit before next time and I’ll definitely super-glue the motor into my Stealth Toyota. It was good to have them along and if you’re reading this we hope to see you again soon. In our rear view mirrors.

FOR THE JUNIORS

The Certificates for our Junior members hit a technical hitch last time (computer troubles) but these have been sorted. To remind, there are three Grades and each one has a qualifying “time” which will be taken from personal best results in 1/32nd Production as shown on the Results Sheet at the end of each of the four racing seasons.

                        5-5.99 laps/minute – “Novice Qualifier”

                        6-6.99 laps/minute – “Club Racer”

                        7+ laps/minute – “Premier”

So at the end of the Second Season we have the following;

Novice Qualifier; Jasmin

Club Racer; John, Elliott, Elizabeth, Jessica and Andrew.

Premier; Mark K, Wayne, Stephen

TEST REPORT

I’m always looking for to improve performance and I can confirm that my latest item of new kit is definitely faster, handles much better, is more stable and overall is definitely HOT. Yes, the new club kettle is doing fine.

REFRESHMENTS UPDATE

The Refreshments Committee (all one of it) is very concerned to note the recent introduction into the clubroom of unauthorised, “pirate” foods delivered by Biker Courier dude – however, we’re not afraid of competition and will meet this head-on, No Fear. With our bulk buying power we’re not afraid to take on some puny rival. What’s that? MacDonalds? This could take some time.

WILDLIFE UPDATE

In response to all those keen botanist-types who have enquired, I can confirm that my colony of pet moths (the ones allegedly inhabiting my wallet) are very well thankyou. (No,  I don’t know what this is all about either).

Assembled by AJF; the car in front …………..just might be Betta.
